JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Director, Health Promotion & Protection Branch in the Ministry of Health & Wellness, and in close collaboration with the Regional Health Authorities, the Project Manager will execute the planning and formulation of additional treatment solutions for medical waste in Jamaica. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring full compliance with procurement, financial policies and procedures and other pertinent rules and regulations of Government of Jamaica
Key responsibility areas
- Hold consultation(s) with MOHW personnel and other key stakeholders to gain an understanding of the objectives, goals and scope of the project.
- Work with all stakeholders to provide effective and efficient project management, coordination and support on orderly implementation of tasks;
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget and deliverable- ensuring that the planned body of work is accomplished;
- Identify, assess and manage risks to the successful outcome of the project;
- Prepare funding proposals and documents for project implementation and prepare progress reports to funding organization;
- Collaborate with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), RHAs and other stakeholders to complete feasibility assessments of available technologies and site selection/structure optimization for construction of the additional treatment facility;
- Manage and coordinate project activities from substantive administrative and financial points of view, applying strategic planning and systematic coordination of project activities;
- Manage day-to-day project implementation and overall coordination of project outcome.
- Convene meetings on project matters with management, project staff, contractors/consultants and other stakeholders;
- Ensure supervision of the Project personnel and ensure effective communication and coordination between the Project office, HPPS, RHAs, and external stakeholders;
- Perform post implementation activities such as soliciting feedback from stakeholders, preparing reports and archiving information.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree or Equivalent in Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other relevant field;
- Project Management Training and / or certification would be an asset
- Ten (10) years’ managerial experience in the field of waste management
