ENTITY: THE PHARMACY COUNCIL
JOB PURPOSE: To inspect registered pharmacies to evaluate compliance with all aspects of the Pharmacy Act and Regulations and to apply the law and relevant sanctions in the areas where the requirements are not being met.
The Key Outputs:
- Legal operation of all pharmacies according to standards
- Recommendations for appropriate classifications of drugs
- Records Management
- Consultations with clients and stakeholders
- Training Support for CE and Stakeholder seminars
The Responsibility Areas:
- Conducts pre inspection research based on itinerary, work plans and schedules
- Inspects Pharmacies across the island for compliance with Pharmacy law , council policies and expectations
- Collects documentary and physical evidence where appropriate through sampling and other evidence collection techniques
- Prepares inspection reports
- Conducts investigations regarding complaints, reports of breaches and ethical misconduct received and submitting reports to relevant authorities
- Conducts prescription and invoice audits at various locations
- Makes technical recommendations based on research and evaluation for the classification of drugs
- Collects and stores inspection data, consultations and classifications on each pharmacy for easy access for further decision making
- Provides information related to classification and registration of drugs to clients and stakeholders
- Provides continuing education and Support to foreign trained pharmacists through consultation and training
- Assists with the preparation and execution of CE seminars and evaluation of PCJ related seminars/presentations
- Attends court in furtherance of prosecution of breaches committed under the Pharmacy Act
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science ( Pharmacy)
- At least 5 years broad based knowledge in retail, distributive and or manufacturing pharmaceuticals
- Registration as a Pharmacist
- At least five years’ experience
