Salary Scale: $ 6,289,384 – $ 7,476,101 per annum
JOB PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Senior Residents and Consultants in Anatomical Pathology, the
incumbent is responsible to perform routine autopsies and gross histology samples.
Key responsibility areas
Management/Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and supervising the work of senior house officers
- Conform to performance standards for the department
- Work in conjunction with other staff members to solve problems, determine protocols and implement procedures for the better functioning of the department.
Technical/Professional Responsibilities
- Accurate, detailed grossing of histology samples
- Detailed performance of routine autopsies and preparation of reports to be authorized by supervising consultant or senior resident
- Participate in informal and/or didactic teaching sessions conducted by senior residents and consultants
- Assist in training of senior house officers
- Any other duties assigned by supervisors
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Undergraduate Medical Degree
- Full registration with Medical Council of Jamaica
- One (1) year post internship
- Applicants pursuing pathology as a speciality would be an asset
