In-Service Education Officer (HPC/RN 4) [VACANT]

Remuneration:   Salary: $1,869,996 – $2,222,838 p.a.

A Commuted Travelling Allowance is attached to the post

 

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Coordinator, In-Service Education, the In-service Education Officer is responsible for the implementation of the nursing education programme, in alignment with achieving the goals and objectives of the Unit.

 

Key responsibility areas

  • Organizes and conducts classroom and clinical teaching sessions.
  • Demonstrates nursing skills for students in the classroom and clinical settings.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades examinations, tests and quizzes for programme/course participants.
  • Assists with interviewing, counseling and evaluation for participants who attended courses in the department.
  • Assists with the selection and interviews of applicants for In-service Education courses and programmes.
  • Follows through on assignments given by In-service Education Coordinator.
  • Arranges external lecturers and assessed content for appropriateness of objectives.
  • Supervises Programme/Course participants on clinical rotations.
  • Prepares programme outline and handouts for Nursing Programmes.
  • Attends appropriate seminars/conferences to maintain clinical competences.
  • Prepares appropriate reports for students completing programmes/courses and conducting exit interviews.
  • Prepares timetable, clinical rotation and programmes for Nursing Programme.
  • Attends and participated in meetings for academic and general staff of In-service Education Unit.
  • Assists In-service Education Officer I in hospitals in the preparation and delivery of local/regional training programmes.
  • Prepares reports at the end of each programme.

 

Minimum Required Education and Experience 

  • Master’s in Nursing Education
  • Bachelor in Nursing/Certificate in Nursing
  • A minimum of five (5) years related experience
  • A valid Licence with the Nursing Council of Jamaica
