Compensation $1,670,000 pa (Minimum)
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the Customs Clearance Officer is responsible for facilitating the at-port entry/exit logistical processes to ensure that all shipments, imported or exported meet all applicable laws and customs requirements so that entry or export can occur in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
KEY OUTPUT
- Donations imported cleared;
- Shipment received checked and verified;
- Shipment in-transit monitored and tracked;
- Customs Regulations and procedures followed and adhered;
- Customs clearance database developed, updated and maintained;
- Customs clearance documents filed and maintained;
- Customs Duty Exemption Form prepared and submitted;
- Technical advice provided;
- Monthly reports prepared and submitted;
- Individual workplan prepared;
Key responsibility areas INCLUDES:
- Participates in the development of the Operational Plan and Budget of the Unit;
- Participates in the formulation of policies and procedural manuals;
- Initiates and coordinates all logistical processes to effect the timely clearance and disposition of donations imported to Jamaica and consigned to the Foundation;
- Checks to verify the accuracy of declared shipments and compliance with customs legislation;
- Monitors the clearance process to enhance the opportunity for timely closure in keeping with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Management Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration or related relevant field from an accredited university or college.
- Professional Certification in Customs Regulations, Policies and procedures.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
