Minister of Health, Hon. Horace Dalley says the partnership with the Pan American Health Organization has been tremendously beneficial to the public health sector in Jamaica.
Minister Dalley was speaking this morning (Tuesday, December 16, 2015) at the official handing over of items by PAHO to support several programme areas of the Ministry of Health.
The handing over took place at PAHO’s office located on the University of the West Indies Mona Campus.
“The partnership between PAHO and Jamaica has been excellent. PAHO has been a reliable partner in the area of health. The swift response from PAHO when we have any health issue has also been noted and I am looking forward to strengthening and deepening this relationship,” Minister Dalley said.
Among the items handed over by PAHO are 13 desktop computers, four refrigerators, laptop computers, nine printers and education material for the immunization programme.
The mental health programme received four laptops to support the integration of mental health in communities while the environmental health programme will benefit from two Microsoft surface pro tablets and two air quality metres.
One hundred and seventy five hand sanitizers and dispensers were also received to be distributed to the Regional Health Authorities as part of their infection control initiatives and over 13,000 growth charts for males and females were received.
