Health Ministry Receives J$27.7M worth of Hospital Beds

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Monday, April 14, 2025: The Ministry of Health & Wellness received 70 hospital beds from the Florida-based NGO, Advent Health and the Andrews Memorial Hospital valued at J$27.7 million. The beds that will be distributed to public hospitals across the island, were officially handed over to the Ministry during a ceremony held at the Andrews Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church on Thursday (April 10).

This donation marks the second of its kind to Ministry of Health & Wellness by the two Seventh-day Adventist healthcare institutions, in collaboration with the Good Samaritan Inn Foundation, the charitable arm of the Adventist Church in Jamaica and the coordinating body for importing the beds into the country.

“We are building the facilities, and they will need to be well equipped with beds and modern equipment to provide world-class services. This donation is a step in the right direction. These 70 beds will be distributed to public health facilities across the island, where they will make a real difference in improving patient comfort, reducing overcrowding, and allowing for more effective management of hospital admissions. Therefore, this donation will enhance our ability to deliver care that is not only efficient but humane and patient centered,” said Mr. Errol Greene, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health & Wellness.
