Jamaicans will this weekend benefit from another in a series of vaccination blitz activities. Vaccination sites will focus on administering second doses of the Pfizer vaccine for those now due, and will also offer AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson jabs at select sites islandwide.

All persons who are due their second dose of the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines this weekend, should by now have received a text message indicating the time and location for their vaccination. If persons have not received a text message, they are asked to visit a vaccination site that is open.
The Ministry is also urging the public to remain vigilant in their adherence to infection prevention and control measures, notably, mask wearing; maintaining a physical distance from others; and frequently washing and/or sanitising hands.
On Thursday, September 9, the island recorded 638 new COVID-19 infections and confirmed 8 deaths. The new cases moved the total number of infections to 74, 645 since the first case was recorded last year while the death toll moved to 1,693.
