In the last 24 hours, Jamaica saw six new confirmed COVID-19 cases. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica is now 1071. Recoveries have reached 754 (70.7% recovery rate), with one additional patient, recovered and released from care.
Of the six newly confirmed cases, there were five males and one female, with ages ranging from 10 to 61 years. Three of the confirmed cases are contacts of confirmed cases and three cases remain under investigation. The cases were recorded in Kingston & St. Andrew (3), St. Thomas (2) and St. Catherine (1).
There are 241 (22.5%) active cases being monitored including six moderately ill patients and one critically ill patient. Some 62 cases (5.8%) have returned to their countries of origin.
There are now 388 imported cases; 340 cases are contacts of confirmed cases, 236 are related to the workplace cluster in St. Catherine, 75 are local transmissions (not epidemiologically linked), and 32 cases are under investigation.
Some 591 (55%) of the confirmed cases are females and 480 (45%) are males; while the ages of all confirmed cases range from 2 months to 88 years.
