Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the Ministry of Health (MOH)
Dr. Bisasor-McKenzie has 25 years of experience in the health care system in Jamaica and was the first Emergency Physician to be appointed as a Consultant in the Public Sector. She served as Head of the Accident & Emergency Department at the Spanish Town Hospital from 2005-2014 until she joined the Ministry as Director, Emergency Medical Services. She later assumed the role of Principal Medical Officer and Director, Emergency Disaster Management and Special Services in August 2016. Her recent work at the Ministry includes the reducing waiting time initiatives in the emergency departments that have seen improvements in patient flow in the emergency department and increased capacity at health centres.
Dr. Bisasor-McKenzie completed her Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Master’s Degree in Public Health and Doctor of Medicine in Emergency Medicine at the University of the West Indies. She has represented the country at various national, regional and international meetings, served as a member of Caribbean Health Disaster Coordinator’s Committee and as a Board Member of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM). She has also served as the President of the Jamaica Emergency Medicine Association.
