Minister of Health, Dr. Fenton Ferguson has called on doctors especially consultants in public health facilities to establish fixed times and make themselves available to patients and their relatives so that they can discuss health care concerns.
The Minister notes that the lack of information and the unavailability of senior health care professionals for patients and relatives to discuss health care requirements, diagnosis, and potential outcomes is one of the major complaints facing the health sector.
“This requirement is in line with steps to improve customer service in all our public health facilities through the policy which we hope to conclude in the next financial year. As part of this we have to ensure that patients and their relatives are able to speak one on one with health care professionals when they seek care in our facilities,” Dr. Ferguson said.
