Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Dispatcher (GMG/AM 1) (Band 3) – vacant, in the Corporate Services Division (Administration Branch) of the Ministry of Health & Wellness, with salary at the rate of $1,439,455 per annum.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Transport Manager, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating all vehicular activities for the Ministry and ensures that the activities within the Transport Unit are carried out effectively and economically.
Key responsibility areas
- Inspects all motor vehicles to ensure that they are properly cleaned daily.
- Dispatches vehicles for assigned activities.
- Receives and records, in register a log of all staff to be transported, time of request, person requesting transportation, time vehicle dispatched and the time the vehicle returned.
- Collates and records the number of staff transported on each shift on the prescribed travel Form.
- Completes Vehicle Status form; Vehicle Allocation Form and Vehicle Parking Log Sheet daily.
- Collects advance cards daily and arranges for vehicles to be taken to the service station and ensures that they are all filled with petrol, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid as often as required.
- Checks the daily assignment book and ensure that all activities are documented properly.
- Authorizes all official trips that are recorded in the Daily Assignment Book.
- Dispatches Drivers on special, routine and emergency assignments.
- Ensures that License and Certificate of Fitness for all the vehicles are current.
- Requests Petty Cash through the Transport Manager to procure goods and services relating to the functions of the department.
- Prepares duty roster for Drivers monthly.
- Checks and verify overtime for Drivers and Attendants.
- Prepares weekly status report and submit to Transport Manager.
- Conducts daily inspection of vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and emergency readiness.
- Requests and issues toiletries to Drivers and Attendants fortnightly for personal use and for use on vehicles.
- Reports all motor vehicle accidents to the Transport Manager.
- Redirects all requests from the public for emergency vehicles to the Nursing Office.
- Participates in meetings to resolve issues with Drivers and Attendants
- Carries out routine servicing on all vehicles assigned to the Transport Department.
- Recommends Drivers for ongoing training, counselling, etc.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Transport Manager.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- 2-3 years working experience at the supervisory level
- Secondary School Certificate/ 4 CXC or GCE O Levels Subjects
- Supervisory Management Training.
