Curriculum Development Specialist (GMG/SEG 3) (Band 9)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the post                                  Curriculum Development Specialist (GMG/SEG 3) (Band 9) in the Corporate Services Division (Human Resource Management & Development Branch) of the Ministry of Health & Wellness, with salary at the rate of $5,198,035 – $6,990,779 per annum.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Director, Human Resource Planning & Development, the incumbent is required to undertake a training needs analysis for the health sector and re­designing the curricula of training schools and identify the need(s) for new categories of training or skills, consistent with manpower projections for the Ministry and wider health sector.

KEY OUTPUT

 

  • Curricula framework for Training Schools in keeping with international standards developed and/or enhanced;
  • Development project programs managed;
  • Training needs analysis of the Health Sector conducted; 
  • Findings emanating from training needs analysis addressed;
  • New categories of Health workers identified; 
  • Objectives of courses developed and expected levels of competencies of participants established;
  • Appropriate delivery/instruction mode for each training programme developed;
  • Research conducted;
  • Monthly/Quarterly/Annual reports prepared and submitted;
  • Individual work plan prepared and submitted.

 

Key responsibility areas

 

  • Participates in the development of the Strategic and Operational Human Resource Plans of the Unit;
  • Collaborates with the Director, Human Resource Planning and Development and the Manpower Planner in conducting research and analysis of education and skills needs of the various categories of Health Personnel; 
  • Manages multiple program development projects simultaneously by prioritizing project deadlines. Tracks program development life cycles; ensure that problems are addressed, escalated when needed, and resolved quickly;
  • Collaborates with the Director, Human Resource Planning and Development in preparing training plans of courses to be delivered based on needs assessment in alignment with the corporate and strategic objectives of the Ministry and Regional Health Authorities;
  • Recommends and identifies alternative sources of curriculum support materials;
  • Develops appropriate curricula in association with technical and professional officers in the Ministry of Health and external “Content Specialists” as required. Obtains approval from the Director, Manpower Planning and Development; 
  • Develops appropriate and effective assessment techniques and tools for use by participants to evaluate courses in terms of objectives, content and delivery.
  • Participates as a member of the team reviewing proposals for technical training and professional staff within the public sector;
  • Assists the Director, Human Resource Planning and Development in implementing training courses.
  • Reviews and analyses Course Assessments and prepare reports for submission to Director, Human Resource Planning and Development.
  • Keeps abreast of current adult educational trends in instruction/curriculum planning by maintaining contact with local and overseas training institutions, consultants and conducts field interviews.

 

Minimum Required Education and Experience  

  • Bachelor of Arts in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design or related field; 
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in training.
