The Ministry of Health and Wellness wishes to advise that persons 50 years and older are now able to register to be vaccinated. This comes on the heels of the Ministry’s ongoing vaccination programme—with vaccination continuing for healthcare workers, members of the Jamaica Defence Force and Jamaica Constabulary Force, as well as staff members from the Department of Correctional Services, PICA and Jamaica Customs Agency.
Persons wishing to be vaccinated are reminded that they must make an appointment through the Ministry’s website at www.moh.gov.jm, or through the National Vaccination Hotline at 888-ONE-LOVE (888-663-5683).
The public is being reminded to arrive 15 minutes before scheduled appointment, and take along proof of appointment confirmation, with a valid Government issued ID or letter from a JP attesting to their age.
Second Dose Needed
The Ministry, through each Parish Health Department, is currently contacting persons to arrange for their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The Ministry is encouraging members of the public who are due for their second dose, and have not received their call, to contact the National Vaccination Hotline. Additionally, persons are being reminded that they are not fully vaccinated until they have received their second dose of the vaccine. Until everyone is vaccinated, continued mask wearing, maintaining physical distance, handwashing and sanitization, as well as abiding by the orders in the Disaster Risk Management Orders must be observed.
The Ministry wishes to take the opportunity to commend healthcare workers and private sector partners islandwide, who have contributed to the management and implementation of the vaccination programme.
