A contract valued at over one hundred and forty three million dollars ($143,233,297) has been signed for the renovation and expansion of the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital in St. Thomas.
The contract was signed at an official ceremony hosted on the compound of the facility today (Wednesday, November 25, 2015).
Minister of Health, Hon. Horace Dalley said over the years much development has taken place at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
“I watched this hospital developing over the years into a beautiful place. A lot has been done in health since 2012. Now we are spending over $143 million on this project to create a more comfortable and workable space for staff and clients,” he said.
The scope of work of the project includes roof construction, ceiling, wall and floor finishes, plumbing, electrical installation, external works, painting, door and window installation, installation of air conditioning, grill work, landscaping, roof finish and rain water disposal, installation of fittings and installation of fire safety and lightening protection mechanisms.
The project is expected to be completed in about twelve (12) months. Funding was provided by the National Health Fund.
