Health Ministry Receives Ja$100,000 To Fight Zika Virus

Fontana Pharmacy donated One Hundred Thousand Dollars (JA$100,000.00) to the Health Ministry to assist in fighting zika virus.  Fontana Pharmacy also developed an educational flyer on zika prevention.   Minister of Health, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton expressed thanks for the ongoing support to fight zika virus in Jamaica as he accepts the cheque during a brief handover event held Tuesday, April 05, 2016 at the Minister’s Conference Room, Ministry of Health, 10-16 Grenada Way, Kingston 5.

“I am very grateful for this contribution from Fontana Pharmacy to help in the fight against zika virus as well as all the other partners so far, as the government needs all the support it can get.  The educational flyer developed will also serve as an additional source of information for the public”, he said.

This is not the first time Fontana Pharmacy partnered with the health ministry.  In 2014, the company came on board during the Chikungunya outbreak and once again is responding to the call for support to tackle zika.

The educational flyers are being distributed throughout the company’s pharmacies islandwide.  Additional distribution points are being considered.
