Minister of Health, Dr. Fenton Ferguson has promised continued support for the colleagues and family of Shellion Pinnock-Lafayette, a Registered nurse employed to the Annotto Bay Hospital who was murdered Wednesday night.
Yesterday (Thursday, January 17, 2013) Minister Ferguson visited staff at the Annotto Bay Hospital and also the Port Maria hospital where she was previously employed. The Minister also visited Shellion’s family at their home in Port Maria, St. Mary.
“In our profession it’s a family business and so when you lose one member of the team it is always devastating. We will continue to provide counseling and other support to staff and family. I'm calling on the police to do everything to get these criminals and calling on the community members to bring in any information they may have. We can't continue to allow these criminals to get the better of us,” Dr. Ferguson said. The Minister said he was particularly concerned about the two children who have been left without a mother. He said the Ministry will do whatever it can to assist the family in this difficult time and provide support for staff.
